Nominated By: Julie Smith
Explanation of Nomination:
Greg has been working for the City for 9 years with our Solid Waste Division. He arrives to work everyday. He greets everyone he knows with a genuine smile. Here in the front office, we look forward to his greetings every morning. We call Greg our Ticket Master. He handles most of the new can issue list / complaint list that Christina organizes for him. The list is ever growing but he tackles it like a champ. He responds to our calls during the day with courtesy and professionalism. He also can be pulled to help our leaf and limb crew and refuge and recycle crews as well. I’m sure both of those Supervisors will agree that he is overall, a great employee that is always willing to help, where ever need be. A couple years ago Greg helped me set up our break room for a retirement party and he helped with the clean up afterwards. That made a huge impression on me of his genuine courtesy and overall willing to help all his coworkers no matter what their job is.
In closing, Greg is an overall well rounded employee that goes above and beyond his job requirements. His dedication to his work is much appreciated by all that know him. Sometimes the ones that do the necessary, daily, mundane work are overlooked for recognition and are not given a simple thank you. Greg, thank you for all you do, while having a positive attitude and a smile on your face. We see you and we appreciate your hard work and dedication.
Employee: Jestine Mclamb

- Professionalism – Demonstrated performance, competence, resourcefulness and courtesy.
Nominated By: Jonathan Perry
Explanation of Nomination:
Engineering has just finished up the Lead and Copper inventory project, and submitted our spreadsheet to the State for review. We get a automated email back saying that everyone we listed as unknown or galvanized requiring replacement, we are to send out notices to the addresses. After review, we found there were almost 8500 notices that had to go out to residence inside the city limits and they had to be sent out in three weeks. Jestine spearheaded this project and advised Shanita on the labels for the envelopes. Once that was completed she gathered our department together and everyone stuffed their share envelopes. Not only did the envelopes need to be stuffed, but she got with finance and was able to use their paper folding machine. Her leadership and resourcefulness on this project was second to none, and without her help and knowledge we wouldn’t have met the three week deadline to get these notices out. This is just one example of her leadership that shows daily and she should be rewarded for her efforts.

Clayton has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty by volunteering for overtime hours to assist with the repair and maintenance of salt spreaders during critical snow events.
His proactive involvement in ensuring that the equipment is operational during peak weather conditions directly impacts the efficiency and safety of city operations. Clayton’s dedication to volunteering for overtime shifts demonstrates his strong work ethic, commitment to the team, and sense of responsibility. This type of initiative reflects his excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure, ensuring that all equipment is ready to perform when needed most.
Streets and Storms Superintendent Doug Henricksen had this to about Clayton, “without you we couldn’t have put out the quality of snow and ice removal that we did”

I strongly recommend recognizing Clayton’s dedication to the City of Goldsboro and encourage continued acknowledgment of his hard work and volunteer spirit.

In the early morning hours on Wednesday, February 19th, Public Works Streets Division was scheduled to begin salt spreading operations at 2am in preparation for the coming snow event later in the morning. As part of the planning for the operation, Senior Fleet Maintenance Mechanic Clayton Williams worked for 3 days prior preparing our old salt spreaders for operation, including a total electrical replacement on one of the two units. Clayton also volunteered and was present at 2am when operations began, and over the course of the next 6 hours he made 3 additional repairs that literally allowed the operation to be carried out. Clayton’s dedication and determination was the key factor in getting this mission completed.
In addition to the extra effort demonstrated before and during the salt spreading operations, Clayton completed dozens of work orders during the first quarter demonstrating exceptional professionalism and dedication to duty. Clayton has provided maintenance support for over 26 years for the City of Goldsboro, and has completed many of the most difficult and complicated repairs ever performed by our Fleet Maintenance team. The garage mechanics are unsung heroes for the City’s over 400 unit fleet of vehicles and equipment, and every Department in the City is dependent on their efforts.
