Nomination Remarks
Monique, Johnny, Marvin and Mr. Forbes are the faces our public continuously saw during our Youth Basketball season - particularly Saturday mornings. These four (4) represent professionalism, integrity, and customer-focus. They were always professional with their interactions with the public. Whether answering a question for a parent, coach, or player, they were always courteous and competent, finding the answer if they did not readily know it.
Monique, Johnny, Marvin, and Mr. Forbes all exhibit integrity. They treated all members of our public the same.
Monique, Johnny, Marvin, and Mr. Forbes all have great customer-focus. Not only did they treat all members of our public the same, they went the extra effort. Most teams provided snacks to their players after the games. These four (4) made sure all kids had snacks after the games - oftentimes bringing snacks themselves to distribute. They also offered words of encouragement to all youth basketball players.
I guess it makes sense that Monique, Johnny, Marvin, and Mr. Forbes are four (4) of our longest working (in years) part-time staff. They love what they do, it shows. And they do make a positive impact on the lives of the youth in our community.

I don't directly work with Mr. Bobby, him being a lab technician and me as plant operator, but we closely work under the same management leadership, same building and working on the same topic which is waste water.
Mr. Bobby is a very positive and ongoing guy. His experience and wisdom is much needed especially when you're surrounded with a lot of inexperienced young employees. As a wastewater operator, we can't do the job without a lab specialist, and Mr. Bobby is always there to help and make sure the job is done right. He wants to make sure we're getting the right container, the right amount, the right chemical, the right person (chain of custody , no contamination...), at the right time...
I'm glad to have him as a valuable coworker.

In the early morning hours on Wednesday, February 19th, Public Works Streets Division was scheduled to begin salt spreading operations at 2am in preparation for the coming snow event later in the morning. As part of the planning for the operation, Senior Fleet Maintenance Mechanic Clayton Williams worked for 3 days prior preparing our old salt spreaders for operation, including a total electrical replacement on one of the two units. Clayton also volunteered and was present at 2am when operations began, and over the course of the next 6 hours he made 3 additional repairs that literally allowed the operation to be carried out. Clayton's dedication and determination was the key factor in getting this mission completed.
In addition to the extra effort demonstrated before and during the salt spreading operations, Clayton completed dozens of work orders during the first quarter demonstrating exceptional professionalism and dedication to duty. Clayton has provided maintenance support for over 26 years for the City of Goldsboro, and has completed many of the most difficult and complicated repairs ever performed by our Fleet Maintenance team. The garage mechanics are unsung heroes for the City's over 400 unit fleet of vehicles and equipment, and every Department in the City is dependent on their efforts.

Marc is truly an asset to the city of Goldsboro being the only person(that we know of) with the ability to speak and read Hattian/creole. Marc has been called on multiple times on and off duty to translate for the police department. If another engine company is on a call and they run into a language barrier they have contacted Marc for assistance. In my opinion, translating shows true integrity. We trust that Marc is relaying accurate information to the city employees and to the citizens of Goldsboro. Even aside from responding to a call, there was a time when Marc was casually walking down Center Street and overheard there was a language barrier with a customer at the Downtown Pharmacy and he gladly stepped in to translate and provided other assistance due to the customer taking advantage of the opportunity and using the help that was available to him at the time. With the city population increasing with the Hattian community we are very thankful to have someone who is willing to help out even when they don't personally benefit from it.

Nomination Remarks
i would like to highlight Clayton Williams' outstanding contribution to The City of Goldsboro during snow events. Clayton has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty by volunteering for overtime hours to assist with the repair and maintenance of salt spreaders during critical snow events.
His proactive involvement in ensuring that the equipment is operational during peak weather conditions directly impacts the efficiency and safety of city operations. Clayton’s dedication to volunteering for overtime shifts demonstrates his strong work ethic, commitment to the team, and sense of responsibility. This type of initiative reflects his excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure, ensuring that all equipment is ready to perform when needed most.
Streets and Storms Superintendent Doug Henricksen had this to about Clayton, "without you we couldn't have put out the quality of snow and ice removal that we did"
Clayton’s willingness to step up and support the Streets and Storms department during high-demand times is an invaluable asset to the city.
I strongly recommend recognizing Clayton’s dedication to the City of Goldsboro and encourage continued acknowledgment of his hard work and volunteer spirit.

I am excited to nominate Jennifer Proctor for Employee of the Quarter. Jennifer consistently demonstrates exceptional commitment to our department by assisting with budgeting and organization and that is something that we have all grown accustomed to but, recently, she played a crucial role in renewing our compost permit by helping to organize all the data that was needed and putting it all together to be submitted. Without her help there is a very strong possibility that we may have missed the deadline to submit the application. That's just another feather under her cap and she continues to impress with how much she is able to accomplish. She also recently renewed her notary license to help enhance her contributions to the department even more. Jennifer is instrumental in keeping management organized and on track, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Her outstanding customer service shines through as she greets customers with a warm smile, whether in person or over the phone. Jennifer's dedication and positivity make her a key part of our team, and I can not think of anyone more deserving of this honor.

Jhante is different. Some of us find ourselves questioning her position here at the department because she is always jugglin multiple task that aren’t in her line of work. She is always up to something thinking of ways to improve the workplace or creating working relationships with other agencies/departments. Come to think of it when we take a step back most of the things that she advocates for is never for her personal gain, it’s usually something to take some of the load off of the line guys, reminding us to take in our station because this is our home away from home, making things user friendly for us, or trying to get us to understand that there is power in numbers. We recently held a graduation ceremony where Jhante mentioned she had a vision and a very tight budget she was able to bring her vision to life by being resourceful and providing her own personal items and contacts to make it look rather snazzy. Her goal to shine positive light and improve morale at the department as a whole does not go unnoticed. Our FB page is a different place we even hear about it at our volunteer departments. For someone who is so passionate and dedicated about their work she hardly ever receives the credit she truly deserves. We hope that one day Jhante will see how much of an impact she has here and hopefully this can be a reminder to her.

I feel she truly deserves to be recognized for everything she does to support our department and the community. Based on my interactions with her, I feel that she goes above and beyond her duties to the fire department. She often responds to emails after hours to ensure that nothing is overlooked. She is very organized and keeps all of us on track especially by reminding us when our certifications are due for renewal in the car seat program.
She also has a positive and welcoming attitude in the workplace. She is very approachable and creates a great environment for both staff and visitors.
One example that always comes to mind is her involvement with the Breast Cancer T-shirt Fundraiser. Every year she dedicates a significant amount of her personal time to help us organize and sell T-shirts at various community events. Her hard work and dedication play a big part in making this fundraiser a success year after year.
These are just my experiences in working with her over the past years.

Nomination Remarks
Tim went above and beyond to resolve a traffic light issue at a problematic intersection by taking swift and proactive steps. The intersection of Harris and Slocumb Street has experienced a lot of accidents recently, and the request came in to install a turn signal to the traffic light. He responded the same day that the text message came through and jumped into action to fix the issue. He added the turn signal to the traffic light, and after further evaluation, he will be installing overhead signs to that signal in the near future. After observing traffic further, he went back into the signal cabinet and changed some of the timing at the intersection to also help with the traffic flow. This is just one example of many for the way that Tim handles his job, and his dedication helped resolve the problem faster than expected earning praise for his professionalism and commitment to service.
