I would like to take a moment to acknowledge Jennifer's exceptional performance on a daily basis. She truly goes above and beyond in her role as an Executive Assistant within the Public Utilities Department. In addition to managing her regular responsibilities and ensuring the smooth operation of our administrative functions, Jennifer played a crucial role in completing the initial budget ahead of schedule for all three departments within Public Utilities. Her dedication and positive attitude are evident in everything she does. Jennifer consistently adheres to best practices, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Recently, she expanded her skill set by learning to draft contracts, a task she approached with enthusiasm and competence. Her contributions have been instrumental in advancing several capital improvement projects currently in various stages of development. Witnessing Jennifer's leadership is inspiring; she engages with each team member in a way that fosters collaboration and keeps everyone aligned with our shared objectives. Her exceptional organizational skills have significantly streamlined our processes, making it easier for everyone to perform their duties effectively. Utilizing her advanced Excel skills, she has developed innovative spreadsheets that enhance our operational efficiency. Her motto, "work smarter, not harder," is a principle she embodies daily. Furthermore, Jennifer's commitment to customer service is exemplary. Whether interacting with colleagues or external stakeholders, she greets everyone with a warm smile and a genuine willingness to assist. Her professionalism, integrity, and customer-focused approach are evident in every interaction, particularly in managing projects and coordinating the leasing of uniforms. We are incredibly grateful for Jennifer's contributions to the Public Utilities Department. Her hard work and dedication make a significant difference in our team's success. On May 21, 2025, Engineer Tim Colyer shared a video with me from a fire department in the Netherlands that featured mini fire trucks used in a fun community activity where kids raced by spraying water. I shared the idea with our training division to see if we could incorporate something similar into our upcoming third annual Hook & Ladder Fire Camp, and they liked the idea. A few weeks later, Tim followed up to check on the progress. When I didn’t have an update, Tim didn’t leave me hanging. He asked me to reach out to the department in the Netherlands for more information such as the materials, dimensions, weight, hose length and size, along with the hose pressure. Once that was done Tim conducted research to find material that was equivalent to what the Netherlands used due to their choice of materials not being available in the country and he did the math conversions for the hose pressure since it differed from how we measure in the country. After navigating through several challenges, ultimately Tim built the coolest mini fire trucks we could have imagined. His craftsmanship and attention to detail transformed a simple concept into something truly special. Let’s also note. This isn’t the first time Tim has taken a small idea and turned it into a detailed masterpiece. A project like this could have a price tag of at least 3,000 by the time you factor in labor, shipping/delivery, and other required supplies. Engineer Colyer even worked on this project on his days off from work to ensure that they were ready for the fire camp. Since the camp multiple departments from over the country and the state has contacted Tim requesting more information shining a lot of light on the City of Goldsboro and the department. I can not thank Time enough for his time and skills so I hope this nomination can help me show not only my appreciation but the city's as well.
