Goldsboro Fire Department Receives an Equipment Grant Award from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation
Goldsboro Fire Department is better equipped to keep all community members safe thanks to a grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The $7,662 grant will be used to purchase a gear dryer for personal protective equipment, fulfilling a critical need within the department.

The new gear dryer will be used to enhance firefighter safety and health, which in turn promotes increased safety within the community. Firefighters routinely enter environments deemed immediately dangerous to life and health by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA). The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recognize the need to decontaminate the gear worn in the performance of duties. Instances of firefighter cancer have been directly linked to exposure through improper PPE care. Keeping our providers safe and healthy promotes a safe and resilient Goldsboro.
The grant was one of 96 awarded by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to public safety organizations across the country during the most recent grant application period. The 96 grants total more than $1.8 million.
